D. J. KIGGINS — Her biggest influences artistically include two well-known and highly respected living artists. The first, Michael Jacques, honed her skills in the acrylic medium. It was through his confidence and reassurance that D..J. entered and was juried into the prestigious Laguna Art Festival. Following this she sought out her favorite American Impressionist, John Terelak. It was through his knowledge, expertise, and encouragement that she began the path to painting in oils and learning impressionistic techniques.

Kiggins chooses subject matter where she most enjoys spending her time –- outdoors. She has painted worldwide, on location, always enjoying the challenge of catching the local light. Her goal is to capture the mood and emotion in that light. She uses intricate strokes of color, along with the layering of glazes, to accomplish this. D..J. Kiggins’ paintings are included in private and public collections throughout the United States. Currently she lives in the High Sierras of Northern California.

“Painting landscapes humbles, exhilarates, and inspires…It is an awesome task melding the energy, vitality, and joy of nature onto a blank canvas. To me it is a sacred challenge”.
